Sapphire windows
Description
Sapphire is an outstanding material for windows with extraordinary mechanical properties and transparency range (from around 200nm to over 5 microns) together with temperature usability to 2000°C. Sapphire is often chosen for its exceptional abrasion resistance. It is also commonly used for pressure windows, its very high tensile strength enabling a large aperture-to-thickness ratio.
